BSP sweeps Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections

Ruling Bahujan Samaj Party has swept the Legislative Council polls winning 31 out of 33 seats that went into the polls. Congress and Samajwadi Party won one seat each as a face saver.
The poll is being seen as a big set back for BJP. The party couldn't even manage to won seat to in this election.
Polling for all the 36 seats was held on 7th of this month.
Congress won Bareli seat while Samajwadi Party candidate has won the Pratapgarh seat.
Of the total 100 members in the UP Legislative Council, 38 are elected from the Assembly constituency, 36 from the local body constituencies, eight each from the teachers and graduate constituencies.
The Governor nominates 10 members on the advice of the Chief Minister.
