Karnataka Govenor Hans Raj Bharadwaj has said that the resignation letter submitted by Lokayuktha Justice Santhosh Hegde is still with him. Speaking to the media persons on the sidelines of a function in Bangalore yesterday, he said the government must show some gesture to retain Justice Hegde as people of Karnataka need him.
State Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the resignation of Justice Hedge is unexpected and unfortunate. He noted that this has happened at a time when government is celebrating its second anniversary and session is to begin from 28th this month.
Taking on comments made by the Opposition, the Chief Minister retorted that previous governments did nothing to give suo-moto powers to Lokayuktha to investigate tainted officials without seeking prior permission from the Government.
