BC Tripathi takes over as Chairman of IGL

BC Tripathi, on Friday has taken over the responsibility as Chairman of Indraprastha Gas Limited. IGL is sole provider of CNG and Piped Gas in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. IGL is a joint venture of GAIL (India) Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Govt. of NCT of Delhi.
BC Tripathi is also the Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) Ltd, India’s flagship Navratna natural gas company.
Mr. Tripathi has taken over from S. Radhakrishnan, Director (Marketing), BPCL, who relinquished the charge on Thursday upon completion of his two-year tenure, but continues as Director on the Board of IGL.
BC Tripathi is also the Chairman of Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer Limited and GAIL Gas Limited. In addition, he is a Director on the Board of Petronet LNG Ltd., a joint venture of GAIL. He has over 29 years of experience in the domain of project planning, management & execution, Operations & Maintenance and marketing in hydrocarbon sector.
IGL has already embarked on a massive expansion programme in NCT of Delhi as well as NCR. There has been a major increase in demand due to all round conversion of vehicles to CNG and increased acceptability of PNG as a domestic fuel.

Capex of over Rs 3000 crore has been earmarked for expansion of the infrastructure in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad for the next five years.
IGL is currently on a fast track expansion of its infrastructure. 255 CNG stations have been set up by IGL and work is in progress at another 24 of them, which are expected to be completed by March 2011.
The company plans to add another 35,000 new PNG connections in the current financial year in addition to 37,000 PNG connections already provided in the current fiscal.
The role of IGL in checking the vehicular pollution in Delhi is well acknowledged both at national as well as international forums. IGL has well laid out its city gas distribution infrastructure in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad which consists of over 3000 Kms of pipeline network.
The network has connected over 2,15,000 households and commercial establishments. IGL is meeting fuel requirements of nearly 4 lakh vehicles running on CNG in NCR.
