Curfew was on Sunday lifted in the Kashmir valley, nearly a week after it was struck by violence. As per the local news papers, the situation remained generally peaceful but the authorities and security forces have imposed prohibitory orders in Baramulla, Pulwam and Anantnag besides some parts of Srinagar.
Sources say that main opposition party PDP is likely to review its decision of not attending Monday's all party meeting called by the0 chief minister Omar Abdulla. The party sources said that Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has called up Mehabooba Mufti and asked her to reconsider the decision.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir bewildered chief minister Omar Abdullah received support from not only his party but also from the members of coalition partner Congress.
Congress and NC legislators expressed full faith and confidence in the leadership of Mr. Abduallah at a specially called meeting of legislators belonging to ruling coalition in Srinagar. It was decided that Government will put in place an appropriate mechanism to address the grievances and problems of the people in a more vibrant, systematic, regular and time-bound manner.
