Andhra CM Rajshekhar Reddy's helicopter missing, search on
The Helicopter in which Andhra CM Rajshekhar Reddy was traveling went missing today morning. The CM was on his way from capital Hyderabad to Chittoor when the control room lost contact with his helicopter. The helicopter took off today morning at 8.35 am and after one hour at around 9.35 am in the morning the control room lost contact with it.
Government has launched a massive search operation. Home Minister P Chidamabaram is coordinating the search efforts.
Home Minister P Chidamabaram said in New Delhi, "I have asked state government to continue the foot search using search light during the night also. Security forces would reach at the spot where we believe the helicopter was lost seen."
He said, search by air would be called due to night and weather condition.
Now the government is focusing on Naxal infested Nallamala forest where helicopter lost contact with the control room.
However, National Security Advisor MK Narayan has ruled out possibility of Naxal strike. He conceded that prolonged period of no information on whereabouts of the CM is very worrisome.
Search on foot by Forest and Revenue officials is on around the point where the helicopter of the Andhra Pradesh Minister Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy was last seen. His helicopter went missing on Wednesday morning.
The Home Minister who also briefed the Prime Minister about the situation after the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's helicopter went missing also said that the state government has been asked to leave nothing to chance.
The Center has rushed 5000 CRPF personnel from the nearby Chhattisgarh and Orissa to conduct the search.
