Leading oil refining and marketing major Indian Oil has informed that AMK Sinha has joined the Board of the company as as Director (Planning & Business Development). Prior to his elevation as Director (P&BD), Mr. Sinha was Executive Director (Corporate Planning & Economic Studies) at IndianOil's Corporate Office and laid the strategic framework for IndianOil's foray into alternative energy. Besides his contribution in formulating the far reaching Perspective Plan 2022 for IndianOil, he was also instrumental in monitoring the Annual Plan and Five Year Plan programmes for the Corporation.
Earlier, as Executive Director (Retail Sales) - the head of IndianOil’s gargantuan retail network, Mr. Sinha drove the XtraCare branding efforts, besides the expansion of highly successful fuel brands such as XtraPremium and XtraMile, and took XTRAPOWER to the position of the largest fleet card loyalty programme in the country. The efficient amalgamation of IBP retail outlets with the IndianOil network was also achieved under his leadership. He also has to his credit several innovative ideas for two way communications with channel partners for capability building and motivation.
Mr. Sinha has been at the forefront of the changing face of petroleum retailing. Sensing the huge opportunity presented by a burgeoning rural hinterland, he conceptualised and launched an innovative low cost model of petroleum retail outlets popularly known as Kisan Seva Kendras (KSKs). These KSKs, with allied non-fuel offerings, helped in building traction for IndianOil’s rural forays and remain one of the biggest successes in rural marketing in the country, winning IndianOil several accolades such as the 'Most Admired Retailer in Rural Impact' Award at the apex India Retail Summit.
A Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the Bihar College of Engineering, Mr. Sinha was also in the prestigious Advance Management Programme of the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon, and has over three decades of diverse experience in the oil industry. Widely travelled in India and abroad and participant at many seminars, conferences and business meetings abroad, Mr. Sinha has also served as Director on the Board of Lanka IOC Limited and IOT Infrastructure & Energy Services Limited, both subsidiaries of IndianOil.
