7 Naxals killed in an encounter with Police in Chattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh police killed 7 naxallites in the Dantewada district in an encounter. The encounter took place in the Tetemadgu jungle some 18 kms from Kistaram town.

It also left one police constable injured who has been admitted to the Jagdalpur hospital. Police have since recovered the bodies of the naxalites.

A state police officer told the media that a police party comprising the members the state armed police was returning after a three day patrol of the area when it came under attack from Naxal fire.

He said that in retaliatory action seven Naxals were killed and one member of the police party was also injured. He said that police used helicopter to evacuate the injured officer.

Police have recovered some weapons which include 303 rifles, some detonators and landmines from the site of the encounter.
