54 per cent turn out in 2nd phase of Jharkhand assmbly polls, one security personnel killed in landmine blast

Despite Maoists' call to boycott the assembly election in 14 seats considered as Naxal infested, people come out in large numbers from their home to elect their candidates.

Joint Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Deshmukh informed the reporters that by the evening more than 54 per cent votes have been recored in Electronic Voting Machines.

However, the second phase of election for 14 seats of five phase Jharkhand assembly election was also marred by violence.

Suspected Maoists triggered a landmine blast in Girideeh district killing a CISF personnel. The attack took place when the patrolling party were crossing the culvert on foot.

However, barring this incident the polling went off peacefully.

The third phase will be held on 8th December, the fourth phase on 12th and the fifth and final phase on 18th of this month. And Counting will take place on 23rd December.
