359 deaths so far due to Swine Flu in the country

Deadly Flu has taken 359 lives in the country so far. Health Ministry reported on Tuesday that 359 patients have died due to H1N1 virus in the country till October 6, 2009. The ministry informed that four deaths have been reported from various states on Tuesday - one each from Andhra and Gujarat and two deaths from Mahrashtra.

The ministry said that it has received laboratory confirmation of four deaths from state health directorates – taking the total number of deaths to 359 in the country.

Maharashtra accounts for the highest number of deaths with 147 deaths so far. This is the worst affected state in the country. India’s IT state Karnataka is the second most affected state with 101 deaths so far. Andhra Pradesh accounts for 38 deaths while 36 deaths have been reported from the state of Gujarat.

A Health ministry official informed that total 47,145 cases have been tested till now and 23.8 per cent have been found positive.
