Senior Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya on Monday quit the party, accusing supremo Mayawati of selling tickets for the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly election next year.
Maurya is also the leader of Opposition in state Assembly and his resignation from party post has given a set back to BSP’s poll preparations because he is a major dalit face of the party.
Maurya also said that Mayawati was misusing name of Bhimrao Ambedkar and party founder Kanshiram.
Reacting to Maurya leaving the BSP, Mayawati said it was good-riddance. She said that he had done a great favour by resigning and dared him to prove his charge that tickets were being “auctioned” by her.
She also accused Maurya of trying to promote his family in the election.
The poll bound state is witnessing interesting political activities in recent times.
But, it will be clear in the election results only, that strategy of which political parties or individual leaders was able to impress the voters of UP.Follow Meri Sarkar
