Brussels Attacks: Massive Manhunt Underway To Root Out Terrorists

CCTV grab of three suspected attackers released by Belgian authorities following the attack on Brussels Airport & Metro Station.

Belgian authorities launched a massive manhunt after Islamic State bombers attacked Brussels airport and a metro train, killing around 35 people and wounding more than two hundred as ISIS affiliated attackers once again struck at the heart of Europe.

Belgian authorities have identified identified two of the attackers who targeted Brussels as brothers Khalid and Brahim Bakraoui.

The report issued on Wednesday said the brothers were known to police for past crimes, but nothing relating to terrorism.

Authorities said Khalid El Bakraoui had rented an apartment raided by police last week in an operation that led authorities to top Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam.

Two massive suicide blasts by men with bombs in their bags hit Zaventem Airport, leaving blood and mangled bodies strewn across the check-in hall and sending terrified travellers fleeing.

CCTV pictures released by Belgian police show two of the suspects were wearing black gloves on their left hands.

Belgian police released CCT pictures of two of the suspects pushing trolleys with their bombs through the terminal and said they were actively searching for a third man whose explosives did not to go off.

Police and military personnel fanned out across capital Brussels as raids were under way across Belgium. Local media reported that a bomb, an Islamic State flag and chemicals had been found in one apartment.

The fact that the terrorists linked to Paris attackers were not only able to remain hidden in Belgium but also mount such a spectacular attack on the heart of Europe has shocked the continent’s people and its leaders.
