Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister who has yesterday stripped his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav of two key portfolios – Public Works Department and Irrigation Department Wednesday ruled out any division in the Yadav family.

However, Akhilesh Yadav acknowledged that there was some problem in the government while commenting on his decision to sack two ministers and downsizing of his uncle Shivpal that was preceded by removal of chief secretary Deepak Singhal.

Talking to reporters in Lucknow, he said: “There may be problems in the government, but not in the family. As far as family is concerned, everyone abides by what netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) says and accept his words.”

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had yesterday divested Shivpal Singh Yadav of all important ministerial portfolios.

Prior to it, Shivpal Singh Yadav had replaced him as state party President on the instructions of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Hours after Shivpal was named the new state unit chief, Mr Akhilesh Yadav took away all of his important portfolios including PWD, irrigation, cooperative, flood control and revenue.

While the removal of Akhilesh Yadav as party’s state unit chief came after he shunted out Deepak Singhal, a Shivpal favourite, from the post of chief secretary yesterday.

On Monday, Akhilesh had sacked two ministers, Gayatri Prajapati and Rajkishore Singh, both Shivpal loyalists, disregarding the counsel of his father Mulayam Singh and uncle Shivpal Singh.

Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had so far been trying a balancing act, appeared to have come out firmly on Shivpal’s side on Tuesday by giving him charge of the party. This position would see him play a key role in the selection of nominees for next year’s assembly polls.
